Northrop Grumman Spacedesigns, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation-related systems tocustomers around the world. We are seeking a Senior Simulation Software Engineering team member to serve as a Cost Account Manager (CAM) and technicallead for one or more space programs in Dulles VA, in the NSSbusiness area within the Space Systems Sector.

A successfulcandidate is familiar with software-based simulation principles,implementation, and application. Candidateswill plan, organize and be involved in the full software lifecycle to developspacecraft simulation software using state-of-the-art tools and software bestpractices. A successful candidate has the skill set,or willingness to learn the skills necessary, to perform cost account dutiesfor the simulation software engineering staff associated with critical nationalsecurity programs. Tracking the status of earned value performance andpresentation of technical and programmatic status to management and externalcustomers will be key job activities. The idealcandidate will have experience with C programming, be knowledgeable on thedevelopment and use of simulation models of sensors, actuators and spaceenvironments to demonstrate closed-loop spacecraft system performance andgeneral integration and test of aerospace systems. An understanding ofwaterfall, spiral and Agile software development processes and continuousintegration using Jenkins, Jira, Bitbucket and related devops tools is valuable.

Hereare some of the representative tasks a Simulation CAM would perform:

·      Manage cost, schedule and scope of simulation efforts

o   Coordinate simulatordeliveries

o   Coordinate customerdeliverables

o   Coordinate Flatsat hardwaredeliverables

·      Manage technical development of simulation

o   Assign development tasks

o   Perform development tasks

o   Review simulationdocumentation

o   Coordinate support fromsenior Simulation Team members

·      Coordinate with related teams

o   Support Flatsat hardwaredevelopment, testing and lab management

o   Work with Flight Softwareand Guidance, Navigation and Control teams

o   Support Ground System andMission Operations leads

·      Interact with project Program Office

o   Provide weekly status

o   Provide monthly Earned Value

o   Write Variance reports asrequired

o   Perform Risk Analysis

o   Attend regular CAM meetings

o  Support ERBs, PRBs, CCBs, CDRs, IBRs, monthlyPMRs

·      Interface with customer

o  Provide status on cloud requirements anddevelopment progress

o  Support cloud testing as necessary

o  Conduct simulator acceptance testing

o  Support integration and testing of spacecraft

o  Conduct customer training

o  Support mission rehearsals

o  Support on-orbit maintenance activities

o  Support launch and on-orbit checkout andverification


Basic Qualifications:
  • Software/Electrical/Computer/Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Physicsor similar technical program with at least 9 years of related work experience. 

  • Experience building models and simulations

  • Diverse programming proficiency: C, C , Python, Matlab/Simulink

  • An active Top Secret Clearance is required for this position

  • US Citizenship is required for this position 

Preferred Qualifications:

  •  MS degree in engineering or science
  • Projectmanagement credentials
  • 3D graphicsdevelopment, using OpenSceneGraph, OpenGL or similar
  • System knowledge in some of the following domains: Spacecraft Command &Control, Mission Planning, Space
  •  Experiencein Agile developmentmethodology, specifically Scrum, using Jira
  •  ActiveTS with SCI clearance
