Customer Account Representative

In addition to inbound freight from vendors, our experts provide an expanded view and new insights of their total freight costs - all national carriers, large freight, mail, courier, in-house fleet and more.

Job Description

  • Act as liaison between client and OptiFreight for all transportation needs
  • Manage weekly billing files
  • Manage and report performance data to appropriate levels within client organization
  • Partner with client to identify, develop and support freight program processes and goals
  • Provide first point of contact for all client inquiries, support requests, and issue resolution
  • Support client’s freight program goals through freight analysis and optimization
  •  Identify and address cost-savings and/or cost recovery opportunities
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with client, peer group and vendors
  • Facilitate discussions between client and courier vendor
  • Manage courier route adds, edits or elimination
  • Provide financial analysis on proposed changes to validate $
  • Primary responsibilities (ref client SOW for additional details):
  • Identify opportunities to drive additional package volume - identify supplier account numbers (SANs) where vendor not shipping through program, convert direct FedEx/UPS outbound users to OptiFreight website, arm customer with information on Refused Vendors

  • Customer service - address customer concerns in a timely manner
  • Knowledge of small parcel, LTL and FTL programs, carriers and processes
  • Competency in initiating, communicating and driving changes across organizations
  • Strong capabilities in Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on advanced Excel usage
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across functions, client organization and OptiFreight
  • Experience in achieving and maintaining organizational KPIs
  • Aptitude in maintaining open lines of communication with both internal and external customers

Position requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 2 years transportation/logistics/supply chain experience
  • LTL knowledge beneficial
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to multitask and meet position requirements with minimal supervision

Performance requirements:

  • Detailed business review for all client locations
  • Meet with client Supply Chain leadership to determine next year’s target/goal


  • Meet with client Supply Chain leadership for business review


  • Quarterly business review for all client locations 
  •  In-person visits to all Main Hospital and Regional facilities for quarterly business review
  • Webinar presentations of quarterly business reviews as required for remote facilities


  • Status review with client contact
  • Mode optimization review
  • Shipment overview reporting provided to client
  • Review progress towards savings target/goal
  • Provide savings update to client
  • Review non-CARDINAL HEALTH freight allocation items for vendor compliance, fee verification and new vendor implementation


  • Completion of all unmatched PO/billing files
  • Review of all aging items
  • Partner with client AP team to resolve aging issues
  • Partner with client Supply Chain teams to resolve freight issues
  • Client Specific Tasks: Specialized reporting as requested, Participation in client focus groups, etc. as requested
